It was a disheartening weekend for Taz Taylor sponsored by DLR Transport riding for the RS Racing KTM, at round nine of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship at Oulton Park. He was dominant all weekend and despite gaining a huge six second lead in the race he was forced to retire with a technical problem on lap seven of the 12 lap race.

Taz had a really strong weekend at the Silverstone MotoGP last weekend and finished in a creditable 19th place in his debut world Championship race. He was feeling confident coming to Oulton Park and was dominant in every practice session. He missed wet qualifying as he did not want to do anything silly and went out in the second qualifying and set pole position by nearly a second.

The Moto3 riders only had one race this weekend at Oulton on the Sunday. Taz got a fantastic start and was looking strong for the win; riding effortlessly the youngster was consistently setting lap times in the 44’s. Smashing his own lap record by over a second on every lap, sadly on lap seven Taz was forced to retire from the race after an engine problem.

Taz Taylor – “I’m really upset about the result today as I really felt so comfortable here and the lap times were really strong and consistent. Everything was looking good and I was managing to extend my lead on each lap and felt really happy. I got half way through the race and the bike just lost power and I knew I had to retire as I didn’t want to risk doing any more damage to the bike. I’m really gutted as it was all looking so good but that’s racing for you.”
