Taz Taylor – Snetterton

17-year-old Taz Taylor sponsored by DLR Transport, riding for the RS Racing KTM team had a mixed weekend at round four of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship at the Snetterton 300 circuit. Taz was locked in a close battle for the lead of the first race and crashed out on the final lap. In race two on Sunday he meant business and took a stunning race win.
Taz came to Snetterton with a 23 point lead from Scott Deroue and was eager to increase this. He had a strong opening qualifying session on Friday and ended up in third place, during the second qualifying session on Sunday he certainly pulled the pin and went quickest by 0.8 from Deroue.
He got a steady start to the 8-lap race and dropped back to third place by the second turn, he moved up to second at the end of the opening lap and once again him and the Dutch rider Scott Deroue were swapping positions on every lap and most corners. Taz led into the last lap and once again they exchanged positions for the lead several times, Taz was caught off line at the fast Coram corner and crashed out heavily, thankfully uninjured.
For the second race Taz was on pole position again, he was really keen to make amends for his crash on Saturday and had his head down for race two and was ready to do. He got a good start and despite several passes from Scott Deroue, Taz led every lap as they crossed the line. He was being pushed all the way by Deroue and also Ed Rendell. It was a fantastic race and all three were pushing to the limit on every lap, in the drag race to the line Taz took the win by 0.05 of a second.
Taz Taylor – “I really wanted to win in that first race and I was having a great race with Scott, we changed places so many times on the last few laps. I just ran a bit off line at Coram, hit some bumps and down I went. I was so gutted as it was probably one of the best races this year.
Race two seemed even better, my team worked really hard overnight to get my bike fixed and it seemed awesome today during the race. It really was a tough race and no room for error or mistakes I had to really concentrate throughout and ensure that I pushed as hard as I could. We’ve had some mega races this year but they have also been extremely tough and so I’m really pleased to have been able to secure another win. Once again I would like to thank all my loyal sponsors and Ryan and the team, if anyone would like to help my bid of racing at the British MotoGP at Silverstone then please get in touch.”
