Taz Taylor Racing – Cadwell Park

Taz20

Taz Taylor from Mansfield riding for the RS Racing KTM team, sponsored by DLR Transport had a tricky weekend at round eight of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship at Cadwell Park. He took a fantastic win in race one and sadly crashed out of the second wet race whilst battling for the lead.

Taz was looking very comfortable at the 2.2-mile circuit and topped the time sheets in every practice and qualifying session and was keen to get into the first race. As always it was a tight battle with him and his Championship rival Scott Deroue. The pair once again exchanged places throughout the scheduled 10-lap race, with Taz taking another impressive win by 0.05 from Scott.

In race two Taz started from third place on the grid but five minutes before the race the heavens opened and drowned the Cadwell Park circuit. The Motostar riders were given a six minute wet practice session and then the race got underway. Taz and Scott Deroue once again shot off the line and were comfortably 14-seconds ahead of third place man. Unfortunately on lap five Taz got on the throttle too much and he high-sided at Park crashing out heavily. He was thankfully uninjured and now the team will be working hard to fix the bike before his debut wildcard ride next weekend at Silverstone.

Taz Taylor – “I felt really happy all weekend at Cadwell and each session was going really well. The bike felt brilliant and I felt like I could get some really good results here. The first race was tough again with Scott but we had a good battle with each other as we have all year. I’m really pleased to have taken another win and was looking forward to race two.

When it started raining just before the race I was a bit gutted as six minutes is fairly tough to set up the bike correctly. I got a good start and knew Scott and I would be fighting it out again with each other. The rain started coming down heavy and I got on the gas and the bike just let go from underneath me and down I went. The bike caught fire and I landed fairly hard and I am just sorry that I have caused the team so much work before the GP next weekend.”
