DLR at Oulton Park.

Saturday 14th July, race day!

DLR were at Oulton park for the fourth round of the MSVT Championship last Saturday. During the day the DLR Sponsored Clio of Thomas Rogers and John Griffith will be taking part in two races at this renowned park circuit. The track is characterised by rapidly changing gradients, blind crests and several tight corners, there is much to enjoy about this 2.8 mi (4.5 km) circuit, and it is arguably one of the most picturesque race track in the U.K.

MSVT Championship Qualifying saw a repeat of the same front row that lined up at Silverstone, with GNB Racing’s Gary Burstow taking pole alongside the Team AirSupply Porsche. Class C pole was captured by Dean Hyde in the Tylah Motorsport BMW, ahead of DLR Motorsports pairing John Griffiths and Tom Rogers.

When the lights went out, the Class C pole sitter Dean Hyde, got away well to mix in with the Class B cars. Team Norfolk’s Kevin Stirling also got away well to jump the DLR Motorsport Clio of into the first bend. As the Class B cars slowly made their way back past Hydes Tylah BMW the chasing Class C pack were able to close him in as well, with the BMW being slower in the traffic.

With the pit stop window now open; Tylah Motorsports Dean Hyde managed to hold the lead coming back out of the pit stops. Team Norfolk in second was coming under mounting pressure from DLR Motorsport who before pitting took a T-bone impact from a rival Class C fiesta, but managing to keep it held DLR would exit the pits and managed to pass Team Norfolk for second a second place finish. This fight allowed Tylah Motorsports Hyde to gap the second place battle. Once in front of Team Norfolk the DLR Clio, showed good pace, trading lap times with Hyde. Unfortunatly the gap built by Hyde was enough and the Tylah car held the lead until the chequered flag.Team Norfolk in turn managed to hold off a late charge by Simon Reed in the OX4 Mini to hold on to third in Class C.

With the chequered flag out DLR achieved a second place Class finish and an overall position of ninth, so another podium for the DLR Team, that along with the points carried forward from the three previous round now place DLR at the to of the championship standing for Class C and eleventh overall.

A massive thank you to everyone involved in what turned out to be a manic day at Oulton park, with tight timetables and more than one issue rearing its head, so congratulations to both drivers John and Thomas along with out pit crew Carl and Luke who as ever looked after the car and kept things going to allow the team to achieve there best result yet!

Round 5 of the Championship will be held at Brands Hatch GP on the 18th August. As always everyone is welcome, so please come along and join the DLR team.
